Position Title: Dyslexia Instructional Specialists

Location: Franklin Middle School and Roland Reynolds Elementary

Salary Range: Base + District Stipend

 

Position Summary

 

Provide students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties with appropriate learning activities and instruction designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Provide support to students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators in the identification, evaluation, and development of individualized plans designed to support students in need of intervention.   

                 

Position Requirements

Education/Certification/License:  Valid Texas Certification

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Dyslexia Certification preferred

 

Experience: 

 

Experience teaching reading to middle school and/or elementary students who are at-risk.

 Knowledge of state and federal laws for educating students with disabilities.

 Knowledge of characteristics and needs of students according to The Dyslexia Handbook: Procedures Concerning Dyslexia and Related Disorders

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Willing attitude for improvement in instructional strategies
• Provide instruction to students and staff 
• Maintain current knowledge of policies, procedures and legalities for Dyslexia screening, education and assessment
• Maintain orderly classroom
• Facilitate and monitor testing procedures related to instruction.
• Meet and exceed state/campus goals for student performance
• Promote mission and goals of Franklin ISD
